Pre-qualify for

Liability Insurance as a GEHA Practitioner

Pre-qualify for
Liability Insurance as a GEHA Practitioner

GEHA licenses do not include liability coverage so practitioners must obtain and maintain their own policies, adding GEHA as an additional insured. GEHA members are pre-qualified for liability insurance.

Does my GEHA membership include insurance?

NO, BUT YOU CAN STILL APPLY FOR A GEHA LICENSE EVEN IF YOU DON’T HAVE INSURANCE YET!  YOU’LL HAVE 30 DAYS AFTER YOU GEHA FEES ARE PAID TO SUBMIT YOUR INSURANCE POLICY.

Your GEHA membership license does not include professional liability insurance. You are responsible for obtaining and maintaining your own coverage for any services provided under the GEHA scope (Code of Operations). GEHA, in partnership with Lockton Affinity, has developed a program to provide access to professional liability insurance coverage for GEHA-approved practitioners. Regardless of whether you select coverage through Lockton Affinity, or already have existing coverage, you must ensure that Guardian Ecclesiastical Holistic Association is listed as an “Additional Insured.”

Below is the contact information you will need:

Why must I add GEHA as ”additional insured”?

It is significant for you to know that GEHA is an Ecclesiastical organization that issues ministerial licenses to qualified applicants, but in some instances, GEHA may also be liable (to a degree) for a member’s actions. Adding (or including) GEHA as an “additional insured” [party] is required to protect GEHA as well, in case of wrongful actions on the part of a member that may result in a civil or criminal lawsuit being filed against a member. This is customary and a common practice in organizations such as GEHA, since the insurance policy GEHA holds, requires this in order for GEHA to maintain similar liability insurance coverage.

What if I am state-licensed?

STATE-LICENSED PROFESSIONALS MUST ACQUIRE ADDITIONAL PROFESSIONAL LIABLITY INSURANCE TO COVER THEIR GEHA WELLNESS SERVICES.

If you are a “state-licensed practitioner” i.e., chiropractor, medical doctor (MD, DO), family nurse practitioner (FNP), or any other kind of state-licensed practitioner, your malpractice insurance DOES NOT cover your GEHA wellness services.

REMINDER:  As stated in #4 of the GEHA Code of Operations, if you hold a license with GEHA, and in addition hold a state license as a Medical Care Provider, you are not authorized to integrate or amalgamate Medical Treatment with any GEHA [Ecclesiastical] wellness services. Depending on the facts and circumstances, some states may require physically separate offices, including waiting rooms. If you are a state-licensed healthcare provider, it is your responsibility to abide by the laws of your state.
